I-20 Cost Estimates

Your I-20 includes an estimated cost of living and educational expenses for your first academic year at UNT Health. These estimates include costs beyond tuition and fees, such as housing and food. Actual expenses will vary depending on individual lifestyle choices and the number of courses taken each semester.

Living expenses are calculated using a standardized formula intended to ensure safe housing and adequate nutrition. Please note that students typically incur higher expenses during their first semester due to deposits and other upfront costs, such as securing an apartment, setting up utilities and obtaining a cell phone plan.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition and fee estimates are based on enrollment in the minimum number of required courses each term. Students who enroll in additional courses should expect higher costs. UNT Health reserves the right to amend tuition and fees at any time; therefore, your cost per semester may increase even if you do not enroll in extra courses.

The I-20 financial requirements listed below reflect estimated costs by degree and program for the 2025–2026 academic year. Additional costs for dependents are outlined in each program’s Cost of Attendance Budget.

Important Notes for International Students

  • All estimated funding amounts apply only to international students applying for an F-1 visa.

  • All funding estimates are based on a 12-month calendar year.

Cost of Attendance & Financial Documentation

To receive an initial I-20 and schedule an F-1 visa appointment, international students must demonstrate sufficient financial support. The estimated annual cost of attendance includes:

  • One academic year of tuition

  • Required fees

  • Health insurance

  • Living expenses

Federal regulations require F-1 visa applicants to submit proof of financial support. UNT Health must review these documents before issuing an I-20, and students must also present them at their visa interview. Failure to provide sufficient proof of funding may result in visa denial.

The purpose of this requirement is to ensure that international students are financially prepared for living and studying in the United States and avoid unexpected financial hardship. All financial documents must be less than six months old at the time of submission.
