Institutional Achievement Metrics

The University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNT Health) identifies, evaluates and publishes goals and outcomes for student achievement in alignment with its mission to “create solutions for a healthier community.” These goals reflect the institution’s commitment to serving its diverse student population and the professional programs it offers.
Student achievement at UNT Health is measured through graduation rates, licensure pass rates and the extent to which graduates meet the needs of the community and the state of Texas. Each college within UNT Health defines and evaluates student success based on the educational and professional standards of its discipline. These metrics guide academic programming and support services, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and the needs of students.

Graduation Rates 2021-2025

UNT Health Graduation Rates represent the percentage of newly enrolled students who began the program in the specified Grad Rate Time Period and completed it by August 31 of the given Academic Year. Goals and thresholds are established based on input from each college and program to ensure they accurately reflect the unique characteristics of every degree and effectively assess student achievement. For each UNT Health college, these goals and thresholds are presented alongside five years of graduation rate data.

  • Average Years to Complete (Avg YTC): Calculated only for those who completed the program.
  • Threshold of Acceptability (Threshold): This is the minimum percentage of entering students who are expected to complete within 150% of normal time for the program.

Texas Legislative Budget Board Performance Measures 2021-2025

The Texas Legislative Budget Board (LBB) uses performance measures as a key part of the state’s results-oriented budgeting system. UNT Health submits performance data — covering output, efficiency and outcomes — as defined by the LBB, which lawmakers use to guide budget decisions and help the institution track progress and target improvements.

These measures are selected because they directly reflect the institution’s mission to improve the health and well-being of Texans through education, research and clinical service. As a publicly funded health science center, UNT Health is accountable to the State of Texas for producing graduates who meet critical workforce needs and advance public health priorities.

UNT Health sets yearly goals for student achievement in each area, tailoring these targets to its own standards and priorities. If actual performance in any area falls more than 5 percentage points below the annual goal — less than 95% of the target — it does not meet the minimum threshold of acceptability required by the LBB. Goals and thresholds are presented along with five years of LBB data.
